Visiting places like the Acropolis
A limestone hill towering over Athens with an oval shape, 157 m high, covering about 3 hectares. In ancient times, it was a center of religious worship; two roads led up to it: the Panathenaic and Tripods. Settlement on the Athenian Acropolis has been documented since the Stone Age, and from the Mycenaean period, remains of walls known as the Pelasgikon have survived. In the 6th century BC, Solon and Pisistratus initiated more extensive building work here: a temple of Athena (known as the Hekatompedon) was erected, and on the site of an older temple (Archaios Naos), the temple of Athena Polias, the city's patron, was built;

The old Mycenaean gate was replaced with the first Propylaea.

The Temple of Nike Apteros was built between 425 and 421 according to Kallikrates' design. It's worth noting that it was constructed during the war with Sparta and was completed right after the signing of the Peace of Nicias in 421. Decoration continued until 413. Kallikrates' building was meant to replace a modest older temple that had been destroyed by the Persians in 480.

The Doric Parthenon with its wonderfully preserved columns is a classic piece of Attic architecture, combining the Doric order with Ionic elements. 

Areopagus
With the preserved Doric temple of Hephaestus in ancient Athens, the council, which included former archons for life. Its name comes from the meeting place – the hill dedicated to Ares (Greek Areios Pagos), where the Temple of Ares was located with the right of asylum for murderers.

The stadium of the first modern Olympics
The Panathenaic Stadium is located on the slope of Mount Ardettos, on the site of an ancient stadium from the 4th century BC, which was built during the reign of Lycurgus. In ancient times, Panathenaic athletic competitions took place here.

Changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Syntagma Square
The parliament building is called the Second Royal Palace. The guards wear traditional uniforms and pom-pom shoes – every hour on the hour, there is a changing of the guard. It's quite a spectacular event.

Shopping at Athens' Plaka Square
It is one of the most beautiful districts of the capital, where there are many historic houses richly decorated with stucco. There are also several lovely gardens here, with palms and citrus trees. In this part of the city, there are plenty of shops, restaurants, cafes, and green squares. And although Plaka caters to tourists, it hasn’t ruined its unique character.
At every turn, in every alley or nook, there’s a new surprise: a church, ancient ruins, neoclassical remnants, or Franconian houses – all full of life. Plaka can easily take up whole days. You can wander around visiting countless shops that attract with their charm. There, you can buy hand-woven rugs, furs, leather goods, or gold items. The main, and therefore one of the pricier, shopping streets is Adrian Street (Adrianou), running through the northwest of the neighborhood.

Bus trip to the Corinth Canal
The Corinth Canal is a sea navigation channel in Greece that connects the Aegean Sea (Saronic Gulf) with the Ionian Sea (Gulf of Corinth). This canal cuts through the Isthmus of Corinth, effectively separating the Peloponnese peninsula from the main part of Greece, making it practically an island. The city of Corinth is located almost at the canal's entrance. It was built between 1882 and 1893. Thanks to it, some ships can save 400 km of travel that they would otherwise have to make around the Peloponnese.
 Epidavros – one of the most important monuments of ancient Greece – a magnificent ancient theater, built at the end of the 4th century BC by Polykleitos the Younger. Because of its amazing acoustics, every year, for many years, ancient dramas are performed here as part of the Athens Festival, especially works by Sophocles, Euripides, and Aeschylus. 

Mycenae
To the east of the road from Corinth to Argos lies the fortified citadel of Agamemnon in Mycenae (Mykínes), squeezed between hills. It's a place that could be the setting for Greek legends.
Traces of early settlements date back to the 3rd millennium BC. Excavations are being carried out at the site of the former stronghold. The most important finds include the ruins of the acropolis along with the remains of a palace, as well as richly furnished shaft and chamber tombs (for example, they contained golden masks, like the Mask of Agamemnon, jewelry, and luxury weapons).
The most famous tombs found in the necropolis include the Treasury of Atreus, also called the tomb of Agamemnon, and the tomb of Clytemnestra. 

Nafplion
From the 230-meter height of the Palamidi rock, the view is amazing. Beneath your feet, a rocky point resembling a short, thick sickle juts into the blue waters of the Argolic Gulf. To the right, the gulf ends, the shore curves in a semicircle, and then stretches south along the mountainous Peloponnese coast.
The eye is drawn to the red roofs of the houses spread out on the peninsula – this is Nafplion, a city full of monuments, taverns, and guesthouses, located in picturesque Argolis, which has the most ancient monuments in all of Greece. Palamidi is one of the most powerful Venetian-Turkish fortresses in all of Hellas (admission 4 euros). Its long walls, built between 1711-14, climb along the edge of the large rock of the same name, almost vertical cliffs rising from the sea and overlooking Nafplion.
